Because its storage compartment can only collect 26 lbs ice total, the unit's automatic stop/start function pauses production when the compartment is full. The resulting cubes are odorless, flavorless, and have full clarity; furthermore, they melt slowly to not dilute served spirits or cocktails too quickly. For consistency, each cube spans 1" by 11⁄8" by 11⁄4". For efficient cooling, the Scotsman DCE33PA-1SSD undercounter ice machine utilizes R-134A refrigerant and has an air cooling condenser. Its body is constructed of durable stainless steel, and for customization users can add Scotsman wood paneling, which isn’t included. To accommodate different floorplans, the machine's door is field reversable.
